Harbingers of Spring: A rare soundwalk. (4:33) By Philip Bast. "The Open Ears Festival goes open air with listeners walking a trail along the west bank of the Grand River as it passes through Cambridge. It's a visual and auditory experience that highlights "acoustic ecology," a concept near to the heart of composer R. Murray Schafer, whose compositions are performed at stops along the trail.
Highlights include Aboriginal Women Singers from Different Nations, soprano Brooke Dufton, poet Rae Crossman, flutist Ellen Waterman, percussionist Todd Harrop, and composer Jesse Stewart performing on his waterphone."
